Krakow has been on our shortlist for a while. The old town is one of the best-preserved in central Europe, the food is cheap, and Tauron Arena gets serious European acts. This weekend it delivers.
The breakdown: return flight from London Stansted, booked now, is 42 pounds. A room at the Ibis near the train station is 38 pounds. The ticket is 45 Polish zloty, about 38 pounds at today's rate. Total: 118 pounds.
For context: standing tickets for the same artist in London are sold out. When they were available they were 85 pounds -- not including travel. The Krakow trip is cheaper than the London ticket alone and you get the weekend in Poland.
